Tampa Bay Water staff presented a 2045 hydraulic and emergency-scenario analysis that modeled system performance through 2045 and identified reliability and resilience investments the authority should consider. Eliana Lara, the senior professional engineer, said the analysis identified eight capacity and resilience concepts and recommended a short list of prioritized measures, including implementing a Cypress Creek repump mode and upgrading booster pumps and motors at key pump stations.
The analysis also assessed power-outage scenarios and found a projected deficit in backup power capability in 2045. Lara recommended steps such as increased generator capacity at key facilities, improved remote monitoring and control of backup power systems, changes in generator ownership/operation where appropriate, and enhanced coordination with electric-utility providers to close identified gaps.
