Pipeline and plant work progressing; South Hillsborough pipeline ~5% complete

Project staff updated the board on construction status for two major projects. Danielle Kersey, senior project manager, said the 26-mile South Hillsborough pipeline route from Brandon to Lithia and Balm is active at multiple work zones, with tunneling already completed at several shafts. "Construction is about 5% complete based on linear feet of pipe installed, and spending is aligned at 20% of the total $478,400,000 construction budget," Kersey reported.
Kersey also briefed the board on the surface water treatment plant expansion: the project will add up to 12.5 MGD of capacity and is currently about 6% complete with spending at about 17% of the $167 million budget. She detailed recent deliveries and installed components (including belt filter presses and ductile-iron piping) and described ongoing public engagement and coordination with Hillsborough County schools, TECO and other utilities to minimize disruptions. Board members asked how stakeholder complaints are logged; Michelle Robinson of Dialogue Public Relations explained the agency uses a database called Simply Stakeholders that logs inquiries and assigns follow-up.
