Council approves conditional use permit for boxing/fitness club at 346 South Broad

Acting planning staff Jody Sanders presented a conditional use permit requested by Skip and Judy Sawyer to allow an indoor boxing and fitness center at 346 South Broad Street. Sanders said the change of use was reviewed and the applicant requested the permit; staff recommended approval provided code and parking requirements are met.
Applicant Skip Sawyer described that parking stripes were installed and a handicap space requested; he said they have completed required steps with the fire marshal and ADA requirements and that the parking surface is concrete. Councilwoman Gannon asked about the definition of an "all-weather surface" and staff and the applicant confirmed the lot would be concrete. Council voted 7-0 to approve Resolution 2026-087 permitting the indoor recreation facility.
