Council tables abatement resolution; owner given until July to remove dilapidated structure

City Attorney Beth Anne Childs said she was not comfortable fully delegating abatement authority to a single department and will draft an ordinance that preserves mayoral or council oversight where appropriate. Foster told the council he had discussed the specific dilapidated property at 520 E. 6th with owner Joe Shrewsbury, who asked for time to demolish the structure himself; the council agreed to give the owner until July 18, 2025 and tabled the abatement resolution to the July 21, 2025 meeting (motion by Roberts, second by Green).
