County exploring conversion of Edgewater Haven wing to community-based residential facility

Chair Lance Plimel said the county is advancing design and bidding for converting a wing of Edgewater Haven from a nursing-home model toward a community-based residential facility (CBRF) with more independent-living features. "My guess is we can, and it's kind of one of those if you spend some money now, you save a whole bunch of money over the next number of years," Plimel said, and he noted the county's financial modeling shows savings into the hundreds of thousands of dollars over the coming decade.
Plimel said when detailed bids and final design numbers are available there will be a formal debate on the county board floor on whether to proceed. He emphasized due diligence in design, bidding and financial modeling before a final county decision.
