Trustees say students can be grandfathered or choose districts if lines change

Tyler Harrington (Trustee) emphasized that the deconsolidation plan is not intended to disrupt students’ education and that enrollment choices would be preserved. “If a student can still choose to go which to whichever district they want. So for instance, if a student in Elk City wanted to go to CV, they could go to CV,” he said.
Both trustees repeated that students who are already enrolled and living across the new boundary lines would be grandfathered and allowed to continue at their current school. “Basically, they're grandfathered in… If they started in this school, they'll they can continue in this school,” Stacy said. The trustees framed grandfathering and open choice as ways to avoid disrupting children during any transition.
They asked residents to consult maps on the district website to see how lines might affect particular households and urged families with cross-border cases to attend the October hearings for detailed guidance.
