Council reviewed a request from 9th Street Auto Plaza seeking assistance for a new parking lot and improved lighting. Staff outlined options including a one-time reimbursement or annual payments over three to five years. Based on prior practice and the owner's preference to complete work sooner, council moved to approve a one-time grant in the amount of $36,000.
"I'd like the motion to go one time for 36,000," the mayor said during the motion. Council members discussed whether multi-year payments or a one-time grant would best meet the project's needs and determined a one-time payment consistent with past practice would be appropriate. The council recorded a roll-call vote in favor of the one-time $36,000 grant and staff will prepare the resolution and details for the next council packet.
Staff also discussed a separate TIF request from Pacific for roof repairs with an estimated cost of $142,000 and suggested multi-year payments for long-term properties where appropriate; that matter was tabled for additional review.
