Council accepts $17,776 bid for city-owned mobile home

Council reviewed two bids for a city-owned mobile home. The bids recorded in the meeting were $17,776 from Kenneth Hornby and $10,510 from Cherry Street Estates LLC. Council discussed bid terms including appliance inclusion, breaker box work and a required nonrefundable deposit for the buyer.
"So out of the 2 bids, Cherry Street Estates gave a little bit more information ... but I guess we're taking the highest bid of $17,776," the mayor said. A motion was made and seconded to accept the high bid; roll-call votes were recorded in favor and the acceptance will be formalized at the next meeting as required by city procedures.
Staff said buyers must meet with city hall to provide a moving timeline and a $500 nonrefundable deposit that will finalize closing arrangements. The council took the acceptance action at this meeting but deferred final paperwork and timeline confirmation to city staff and the buyer.
