The York Planning Board approved a minor amendment July 23 to add two restroom facilities and extend sewer to parts of the Bog Road Athletic Complex. The decision carried a condition: the applicant must update plans to address LJB’s July 14 engineering review to that reviewer’s satisfaction.
Several residents questioned siting and wetlands. Christopher Jadenen, who lives near the fields, asked: “How can you put a sewer under wetlands?” Parks Director Pete Murray and the project engineer said the proposed subsurface disposal field sits in upland soils (not hydric soils) and that the design will be subject to DHHS review (HHE‑200) and a DEP stormwater amendment for any disturbed area. The Parks director said the intent is to replace porta‑potties and better serve staff and event visitors.
Engineers explained the work is largely within already developed areas, that a pump station will lift waste where needed, and that state permit reviews (DHHS and DEP as applicable) will examine the disposal design. The board accepted the plan as a minor site plan amendment and added a condition to incorporate peer‑review fixes.
