The council voted 7–0 to confirm Mayor Shalene’s nomination of Emily Levasseur to fill the Ward 7 vacancy on the Lewiston School Committee, with the appointment effective July 21, 2026, through January 4, 2027.
Levasseur, who addressed the council during the public comment period for the agenda item, identified herself as a Ward 7 resident, a mother of two neurodivergent children and a former behavioral health professional who has worked closely with families and educators. “I recognize that serving on the school committee requires listening, collaboration, always keeping the best interests of all Lewiston students at the forefront of every decision,” Levasseur said. Councilors who spoke in support thanked her for appearing in person and welcomed her willingness to serve.
