Chief Brian Griffin: communication, empathy and teamwork matter in policing

Chief Brian Griffin of the Northborough Police Department addressed the academy class and their families, urging cadets to carry the teamwork and personal growth they showed during the program into their futures. "When I hire police officers, I look for five things... I look for officers who have strong communication skills, who have good command presence, who are kind, who are empathetic, and who are good team players," Griffin said.
Griffin praised the cadets for stepping outside their comfort zones and highlighted the connections the program creates between youth and local officers. He encouraged all cadets to apply the skills learned in school, future careers or community service and congratulated families and instructors for supporting the program.
