Lake Quivira adopts six 2024 model codes, tables 2024 Fire Code to April meeting

The Lake Quivira City Council approved a consent agenda to adopt six 2024 model codes on March 2 and separately tabled consideration of the 2024 International Fire Code until April 6, 2026.
Items approved on the consent agenda were the 2024 International Building Code, 2024 International Mechanical Code, 2024 International Plumbing Code, 2024 International Residential Code, 2024 International Fuel Gas Code and the 2024 National Electrical Code. Councilmember Julie Kurland made the motion to approve items 1–6; Councilmember Mike Pasley seconded and the motion carried 3-0. The council then voted to table Item 7, the 2024 International Fire Code, to the April 6 meeting by a separate 3-0 motion.
City staff indicated that item 7 was intentionally separated for additional review and to allow coordination with fire protection services provided under the City of Shawnee agreement; no further action was taken at the March meeting.
