Staff reviewed the city's aquifer storage and recovery infrastructure, saying the partner that financed earlier elements also paid for a second ASR well currently under construction. "That's $3,200,000 worth of water infrastructure in just that well," the staff member said, adding that the city will then have two injection/recovery points to provide redundancy.
Staff outlined that the project includes four lines in the ground (water, sewer, brine, and a reuse line originally intended for cooling) and that the system currently injects and recovers water at an existing well while the new well is built; staff said the partner's funding was important to securing the additional ASR capacity.
