Staff presented a draft list and led the discussion; after debate the committee coalesced around Strawberry Park, Weddell Bridge, trail connectivity and a Northside courts/playground focus. "So we have Strawberry Park, Weddell Bridge, Trail System, North Side Courts And Playground, and Emerald Ash Borer," said the staff member leading the priority conversation. The committee agreed Emerald Ash Borer response and routine park maintenance will be tracked as ongoing items rather than top budget requests.
Committee members stressed the benefit of funding smaller, tangible projects that can be completed and publicized to build momentum. Members also discussed fiscal constraints and the budget process timeline: recommendations will go to the budget-and-finance committee for review before any city council decision later in the spring. The committee asked staff to produce a formal top‑priority list for the next meeting so the group can forward a clear recommendation to the council.
