Delran adopts e-bike ordinance banning sidewalk riding and setting speed and helmet rules

The ordinance assigns enforcement to the Delran Township Police Department and prescribes fines not to exceed $100 for a first offense and $250 for subsequent offenses.
Resident Samantha Hutchins asked during public comment how the township will notify residents about the new rules. Councilmember Mr. Lyon said the ordinance will be posted on the township website, school resource officers will educate students, local bike shops will be informed, and police will issue warnings initially to inform riders.
The council voted 4–0 (Morrow, Apeadu, Jeney, Lyon) to adopt the ordinance. The ordinance takes effect upon final passage, approval and publication as required by law; the transcript does not specify a separate implementation timetable or signage plan.
