Charlestown Middle reports mixed GSA results, urges funding to replace aging windows

Reed also detailed facility and safety needs: single-pane windows that are fragile, locker-room visibility that limited sheltering options during a recent threat, and ongoing plumbing and locker repairs. When a board member asked whether window replacements were scheduled, central-office staff (referred to in the meeting as Doctor Bishop) said, "We indicated, you know, $70,000 to replace 3 classrooms of Ortho windows," and added that district maintenance is mostly reactive because budgeted maintenance funds are limited. Board members asked how requests will fit into the final budget; central office said staff will pursue funding where feasible, noting the multi-year scale of large replacements.
