At a special meeting, the Angel Fire Village Council approved the village's 2026 comprehensive plan update as presented.
Chair called for the vote after discussion and a staff report. Planning staff member Santos told the council, "We received 1 set of public comments, and that's what you guys received yesterday, with respect to the solid waste section, which I didn't have any issues incorporating into the chapter." After a motion to approve from a council member and a second, members responded "aye" and the plan passed.
The plan lays out chapter goals, objectives and strategies and attaches short-, mid- and long-term responsibility matrices that staff said will identify the implementing office (for example, village manager, finance director, or council) once outstanding department feedback is returned. Santos said the airport director provided syntax feedback and officials are still waiting on the Parks Department to confirm responsibility and timing for several recreation and trails strategies.
Council members noted the comprehensive plan itself is distinct from ordinance changes already in progress: the Dark Sky Committee's ordinance will be handled separately as a Title 9 municipal code amendment and is expected to return to the council after committee and clerk review. The meeting adjourned after the vote.
