"Our two new cadets came back from the academy six weeks ago, and they are in the second phase of their training in the field," the chief said, noting the department’s staffing and training progress.
The chief also described grant‑funded enforcement for seat‑belt, DUI and pedestrian safety and highlighted a victim‑centered investigations program with a new victim advocate who responds to scenes and meets victims in a separate facility. Councilors asked about the neighborhood‑watch outreach and the chief described quarterly meetings across three city areas and encouraged resident engagement to improve community safety.
