The Evanston Land Use Commission voted not to grant the appeal of the zoning administrator’s decision for 1632 Sheridan Road, ending the matter for this hearing.
Chair Puktel explained that commissioners who missed the prior hearing were being asked to vote on whether to accept the appeal. Commissioner Berlin said, “I vote not to grant the appeal,” and other commissioners concurred, producing a 2–6 result against allowing the appeal. The chair said the decision meant the commission’s action on the matter was concluded for tonight and directed parties to follow up with city staff for next steps.
The vote stopped the appellant’s request from proceeding to the separate review of minor-variation standards; if the commission had approved the appeal, it would have proceeded to make findings on those standards. The commission did not take further testimony or make additional findings on the minor-variation standards during this session.
