The auditor reported one minor over-expenditure in the seismic grant fund of roughly $3,000 during the audit fieldwork, calling it “itty bitty” and not indicative of broader mismanagement. “1 over expenditure in the seismic grant fund, and it was, about $3,000,” Corey said during his board communication.
A staff member later explained the cause: the item had been coded to support services rather than to building acquisition, and the error was missed during review. “That was honestly a coding error in Seismic,” the staff member said. The auditor and board noted the district’s existing process of passing budget-monitoring resolutions had helped keep other categories in check.
