Staff noted the agency recently upgraded tasers through a coordinated purchase using the sheriff's department purchasing agreement and that the commissioners funded the purchase through capital expenditures. "We just recently upgraded all of our tasers to taser tins," the director said, adding the sheriff’s department allowed the smaller agency to join the purchasing agreement. Staff said two in-house trainers—Katie Medrano and Clint Delph—are now certified and will lead training alongside sheriff's department partners and vendor (Axon) trainers.
Chief Ferguson moved to approve the policy update; Commissioner Brown seconded and the board approved the motion by voice vote. Staff said the policy review was vetted with internal teams and sheriff’s department liaisons before coming to the board.
