The Meridian City Council approved a conditional-use permit (HDash2026Dash0004) on July 21 to allow an animal care facility (LiveWell) on a 1.16-acre site at 3175 North 10 Mile Road and approved the associated modification to the development agreement. Staff (Linda) explained the site had previously been rezoned and that the proposal includes a 30-foot landscape buffer adjacent to residences, indoor-only animal requirements except for supervised relief, and a relocation of the trash enclosure away from residential units.
The applicant’s representative, Chad Jones of ALC Architecture, said the project would be similar in exterior design to a recently opened LiveWell location and described the internal layout (primarily exam rooms rather than kennels). He confirmed the facility would provide planned and emergency medical services but said overnight boarding was not part of the proposal. The applicant provided 43 parking spaces though the zoning requirement is eight.
No opposition speakers or written testimony were recorded; staff reported the planning commission recommended approval. Councilmember Cameron moved to approve the application as presented, including staff and applicant testimony; the motion passed unanimously on roll call.
