East Hampton Chamber rebuilds membership, plans networking and October events

Gavin Minu, president of the East Hampton Chamber of Commerce and co-publisher of the Express News Group, said the chamber was resurrected about three years ago after pandemic disruptions and now has a board of roughly 14 people representing different business sectors. "We joined the board... quickly became the president," Minu said, describing steps to grow membership and provide networking platforms for retailers, restaurateurs, builders and cultural organizations.
Minu said the chamber runs frequent networking events, an email newsletter and social promotion for members and holds quarterly meetings with the town supervisor and village mayor to connect business leaders and municipal officials. He emphasized bringing businesses from Amagansett, Springs and other hamlets into the chamber's umbrella rather than focusing only on East Hampton Village.
On programming, Minu said the chamber will partner with the East Hampton Historical Society for an October 17 fair at Mulford Farm as part of the town's 250th-year activities; he added the chamber plans seasonal events including holiday historic-inn tours. "We're definitely gonna partner with them and put together something really cool," Minu said.
