The Planning Commission unanimously recommended that the City Council adopt a drafted Water Use and Preservation element to the North Ogden General Plan. Scott Hess, the community and economic development director, told the commission the staff-prepared document follows the state's requirements, reflects coordination with secondary-water providers and uses the city's impact-fee study to estimate future needs.
"North Ogden is ahead of the curve as far as planning for water," Hess said, adding staff had coordinated with Pine View Water Systems and Mountain View Irrigation on the draft. He also said the city's culinary water sources and storage are projected to meet an estimated buildout of about 40,000 people under current planning assumptions.
Commissioners commended the organization of the draft and voted unanimously to recommend adoption to the city council. The matter will move to the council as a legislative amendment to the general plan element for final action.
