District finance staff reviewed monthly bills and reported revenues from state basic school support, property taxes and interest earnings. The presenter said updated state school fund estimates and stable local enrollment mean the district will receive additional funds compared with the prior month’s estimate.
“As we have every month, there’s a breakdown of what we got from the state for basic school support, property taxes and interest earnings,” the staff presenter said, noting that enrollment stayed stable while other districts experienced declines. The presenter added that some major function categories are looking slightly over budget, and a budget resolution will be needed next month to appropriate higher-than-anticipated SIA and state grant receipts.
Board members asked clarifying questions about line-item changes and about a recently purchased facility striping machine and the district’s online VLA offerings. Staff clarified that the district will watch major functions closely and will bring a formal budget resolution for the board to approve when details are finalized. No formal budget adoption occurred at this meeting; staff said the formal resolution would appear on next month’s agenda.
