Council clarifies fireworks zones; city map controls July 24 rules

The speaker advised residents that areas east of Highway 89, Nichols Park, and a zone north of 400 North and west of Highway 89 are among the places where fireworks are not allowed, and directed residents to the city's website map for precise boundaries. “That ban was not extended to include July 24, so it reverts back to the standard map that was approved a few months ago by the city council,” the speaker said.
The council also said the city is still seeking a district emergency coordinator and encouraged caution because firefighting resources are stretched regionally; staff agreed to coordinate with neighboring jurisdictions on enforcement and public safety for nights when fireworks are permitted.
