City hears mosquito‑abatement update; staff notes three human West Nile detections statewide

He reported three human West Nile virus detections in Utah (Moab, Utah County and Box Elder County) and noted that Arizona had reported 38 cases so far while nationwide there were 54. “So far in Davis County this year, there has been a reduction of by 30% in service requests,” Mark said, and he urged residents to take precautions when traveling to higher‑incidence areas.
Locally, Mark said Fruit Heights had six spray requests in June and nine total spray requests year‑to‑date; the spray season runs March through October. The council did not take action on the report but thanked the representative for the update.
