Commissioners press for public-record safeguards on administrative plat approvals

Several commissioners told staff they want administrative approvals to appear in a public record so residents are not blindsided when plats are approved without a hearing.
“Can we include my last statement in the minutes?” Commissioner Max Titus asked, and multiple commissioners said they wanted some written form showing what occurred so the public would know. Commissioners proposed sending amended language back to the town council and the town attorney to seek a mechanism that preserves public visibility of administrative approvals.
Town planner Mark Corett said he would speak to the attorney and consider whether a board review followed by staff approval could be written without violating the state statute; staff will return with options.
