HVAC units at some schools repeatedly alarm; district won’t close projects until systems work

Facilities staff briefed the board on several construction and closeout matters and said they would not accept contractor closeout until unresolved HVAC failures are fixed. At Site 181 (Group 2), staff reported many classroom HVAC units are “going into alarm on a daily basis,” disrupting operation and requiring vendor/ manufacturer follow-up.
"The problem that we're experiencing now is not a noise. It is operating. It's going into alarm, so it's not functioning," a facilities staff member (Speaker 5) said, urging prompt resolution during project closeout rather than after the school year begins. Staff said they have tested rooms and decibel readings were within permissible ranges, but the alarms and operational failures remain a concern. The district also noted that work on some roofing and window projects has been delayed because of material lead times and that certain construction phases are now expected to continue into October; where possible, contractors will work after hours.
Staff said they expect to finish most punch-list items before school starts but acknowledged roughly 10 open items remain across multiple projects; they stressed the priority is to do the work correctly rather than rush incomplete repairs.
