The vice president of the Toms River Regional School District Board of Education announced that Mrs. Morrison resigned from the board effective immediately, saying the district received an email notifying them of the resignation Friday at 6:09 p.m. The board said the superintendent acknowledged the resignation and thanked Mrs. Morrison for her service.
The vice president said the board will follow New Jersey statute 18A:12-15 to fill the now-vacant Beachwood seat and outlined steps the process may include: advertising the vacancy, setting an application deadline and conducting board interviews. "We will be announcing the process to fill this now vacant seat according to New Jersey statute 18A:12-15," the vice president said. The board set a target to appoint and confirm a new member at its Sept. 18 meeting. The vice president added that state law provides a 65-day limit for completing the procedure and that the board will publish details on how residents can apply.
