NJDOE pause on SGO collection means tenured teachers carry 2023–24 scores into 2024–25

A district administrator (Speaker 9) told the committee that the New Jersey Department of Education issued guidance on May 22 pausing SGO collection for tenured teachers for the 2024–25 school year. "The SGO scores will be from the 23–24 school year into this year," the administrator said, adding the pause means tenured teachers' prior SGO results will roll over for 2024–25.
The administrator also walked the committee through who is still required to create SGOs: first-year teachers, teachers without existing SGO records, and all non‑tenured teachers. The district said it will release a memo to staff in the last week of August and distributed the NJDOE FAQ document to help answer commonly anticipated questions. A board member asked whether teachers could appeal or retry unsatisfactory scores; the administrator said the FAQ indicates no.
