The Fremont City Council took second readings on multiple utility-rate ordinances affecting electric, natural gas, sewer and water services for 2026–27 and carried each motion by a 6-0 vote.
Jeff Shanahan, utility manager, said the electric-rate ordinance had only clerical corrections to the months that define winter and summer since first reading. He told the council the natural-gas ordinance followed current rates and the sewer and water ordinances reflected previously discussed changes. Councilmembers praised the utility workforce; Councilman Jensen noted the sewer department had received national recognition for its work. Each ordinance proceeded on second reading without opposition.
