Resident urges town action after storm floods backyard; cites 40-inch pipe under old railroad bed

"It goes under the old railroad bed and it's a 40 inch pipe," Palmer said, urging the town to take a look and prepare the pipe and catch basin to handle stronger storms. He said pumps in his yard helped to keep damage down but that the street repaving caused water to run over his driveway and that the problem affects both the front and back of his property. The chair acknowledged prior conversations and thanked Palmer for bringing the matter to the board’s attention.
Palmer identified himself as a licensed professional engineer who serves as a village and town engineer for municipalities in Westchester, N.Y., and offered to help the town with drainage issues. The board did not take a formal vote but acknowledged the concern and said staff would follow up.
