Council approved several operational and procurement items: (1) a multi‑year contract award to Excel for grass cutting/mowing and a separate award to Excel for cleanup services as the lowest bidders; (2) a contract modification with Dukes to expand existing sanitary sewer televising/cleaning to include storm sewer inspections and preliminary design work; and (3) renewal of the Barracuda backup appliance to continue city data backups and hourly virus updates.
Public works reported five bids for cleanup and mowing; Excel’s bids were substantially lower than most competitors, and the department recommended awarding the contracts to Excel. The Dukes contract modification uses budget savings and existing contracting authority to expedite storm sewer diagnosis and design work rather than delay with a new bid process. IT staff said the Barracuda appliance has been performing backups reliably and recommended renewal to maintain city server recovery capability.
Council approved all items by voice vote and directed the appropriate departments to finalize blanket purchase orders and contract documents.
