The council approved two routine library items for fiscal year 2027: a $20,000 subscription to OverDrive for downloadable ebooks, audiobooks and magazines, and an $80,068.06 purchase order for Polaris automated system services that support cataloging, holds and cooperative lending.
Library Director Stephanie Fair said OverDrive usage rose 19% in the past year and the requested budget level restores the pre‑renovation line to prior levels. She described purchase mechanics for digital content and how certain titles allow a fixed number of simultaneous checkouts. On Polaris, Fair explained the cooperative system handles holds and interlibrary lending and supports acquisitions and training; council approved the multi‑year contract and supporting blanket PO.
Council discussed operational questions about usage, the content selection process and the library’s other digital databases; approvals were unanimous on voice votes.
