Rangely swears in new dispatcher and patrol officer as department adds staff

Chief Hamlin invited dispatcher Britney Craig to the podium and then introduced Officer Laura Ranker before conducting a swearing‑in. Britney Craig said she moved to Rangely about four years ago and described dispatch as the “first voice someone hears in the worst day of their life,” committing to professionalism, accuracy and compassion in the role.
Officer Laura Ranker thanked the council, her family and department colleagues, said she had been with the department roughly two months and expressed pride at joining the force. The chief led the formalities and council members offered congratulations.
Council welcomed the new staff and posed no questions during the remarks; the meeting included a light‑hearted mention of celebratory refreshments following the swearing‑in.
