Perry City Council approved a DMO/contract agreement July 21 that formalizes the relationship between the city and the Perry Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (PACVB) and sets the city’s payment at 40% of hotel‑motel tax collections to the CVB.
Assistant City Manager Worthington (speaker 17) explained the agreement includes an independent annual performance evaluation conducted by a five‑member committee (Economic Development Director, Communications Director and three industry representatives from hotels, restaurants and retail located in the city). Worthington said the agreement also reserves 3.75% of the hotel‑motel tax to allow flexibility for DMOs other than the PACVB and requires the CVB to hire a dedicated sales position to promote conventions and midweek business travel.
Worthington summarized the administrative responsibilities and said the agreement improves accountability and transparency. On motion and second the council approved the DMO agreement unanimously.
