The Statesboro City Council approved the purchase and upfitting of eight new patrol vehicles for a total of $696,527.66, to be funded from 2019 block funds and procured through a State of Georgia procurement contract. Staff presented a line‑by‑line cost breakdown and recommended approval.
City staff listed vendors and amounts, including Wade Ford for patrol vehicles and Motorola for in‑car camera equipment, and cited a $160,142.51 total for upfitting through West Chatham. A staff member told the council the vehicles are on the lot and awaiting approval: "The vehicle are sitting on the lot waiting your approval. We'll recommend approval." Council moved and approved the purchase after a standard motion and second.
Staff said the purchase will allow the police department to replace and upfit patrol units; funding will come from previously allocated block funds and procurement will follow the state contract terms.
