The Statesboro City Council authorized the mayor to execute the FY2027 operational service agreement with the Coastal Regional Commission of Georgia for public transportation operations, in cooperation with the Georgia Department of Transportation. Staff described the approval as an annual requirement to continue operating the local transit system.
A staff member told the council, "Mayor, member of the council annually, you have to approve this agreement for the operation of our transit system," and said staff recommended approval. Council moved, seconded and called the vote with no discussion recorded.
The agreement is part of the city's ongoing transit operations and staff said it is likely a repeat of prior years’ arrangements; the council approved the authorization to execute the FY2027 agreement.
