"I really appreciate that," Lawson said in brief remarks. "I only wanted to say how much I've enjoyed working for the city for the last 9 years. I especially want to thank my team Ramona Carver, Heather Springer, Ansley Lewis, Heidi Vandoor, and Leah Coleman." The mayor and council members congratulated Lawson, presented the award and took photos.
The city’s written statement, read aloud by a council member, credited Lawson with strengthening public trust through fiscal stewardship and mentoring colleagues. The council did not take further action; the meeting proceeded to other agenda items.
