Grangeville principals report reading gains and community engagement activities

Jessica Robinson (speaker 9), principal at Grangeville Elementary and Middle School, reported improvement on the Idaho Reading Indicator (IRI) for grades K'5 in November: kindergarten and 4th grade each improved by 11 percentage points, 3rd and 5th by 6 points, and 1st and 2nd by 4 points. Robinson said the district will publish fuller benchmark results in January.
Robinson also described community-connection activities including decorating trees at the Veterans Center, caroling, a food-bank collection (about 900 items), and a bus-evacuation drill that was completed in an hour. She credited bus drivers and staff for the drill's success and said the experience will inform scheduling and future training.
Robinson invited trustees to upcoming events including a market day on Jan. 13 and senior project presentations at month's end.
