Property manager alleges council member has personal interest in short-term rental motion
Summary
Jed, a short-term property manager, told the council he believes Councilor Larry Farnsworth has a personal interest in a pending short-term rental motion and asked that Farnsworth not vote; the claim was presented as an allegation and Jed said he would present a fuller case at the Feb. 4 meeting.
Jed, who identified himself as representing short-term property manager West Coast Destinations, told the council he suspects a council member has a conflict of interest related to the short-term rental motion and said the member should be removed from voting on the matter.
"I'm guessing the person that put the motion in place was Larry, Larry Farnsworth... it's becoming more common knowledge that Larry has a personal interest in this," Jed said, and urged the council to consider removing that member from voting. A council member agreed that the concern should be kept in mind and Jed said he would present additional material at the Feb. 4 meeting.
The allegation was framed as citizen comment; the council did not take immediate action to disqualify any member during the Jan. 21 open session. Jed said he would return with a fuller case at the subsequent meeting.
