Staff recommends removing deteriorating bus-stop structures; school input to be included

Staff briefed council about several deteriorating bus-stop structures placed years earlier as courtesy pickup points and reported safety concerns (children climbing on structures). Staff recommended demolishing those shelters located on city property and said work would be done internally if the council approves a resolution in August.
"What staff will be recommending is that we demolish these structures that are on the right of way, that are on city property," staff said, noting they would inspect the structures first and consult school-district staff to confirm whether the stops are on active bus routes. Council members asked that school-route confirmation and any operational impacts be included in the August packet before any resolution or vote.
