Council lowers mobile vendor permit fee to $50

The Evanston City Council unanimously approved Resolution 26-24 on July 7 to amend the fiscal-year fee schedule and reduce the mobile vendor permit fee from $100 to $50.
Mr. Harris read the resolution to the council: “Resolution 26 dash 24 is a resolution in the city of Evanston, Wyoming amending the 02/2027 fiscal year fee schedule to decrease the mobile vendor permit fee from $100 to $50.” Rocco O'Neil of the Community Development Department told the council the change corrects an unintended situation in which some brick-and-mortar businesses renting a temporary vendor space had been charged roughly double what they paid previously. “In doing that, we created a scenario where potentially a brick and mortar who was setting up a temporary vendor tenant at an event ... would be paying roughly double of what they were paying before,” O'Neil said.
Councilmember Sellers introduced the resolution and it was seconded and approved by voice vote. The council did not change the substance of the proposal; O'Neil said the intent was to “take that back down and clean things up.” The change is effective upon adoption as a fee-schedule amendment; the resolution text in the meeting packet lists the new $50 charge.
The action came during the council's new business portion and followed routine consent and finance votes. The council did not schedule additional public hearings on this resolution and no member requested further study before the vote.
The council approved the motion by voice vote; the mayor declared the resolution approved.
