Engineer: TAP sidewalk estimate $1.5M; council to narrow scope and hold workshop

City engineer Kevin Sprinkle reported that the TAP sidewalk project plans have been submitted to MoDOT and the Federal Highway Administration and that the current sidewalk-only estimate is about $1,500,000; the overall submitted project was roughly $6.18 million.
"The most current estimate on the sidewalks is $1,500,000," Kevin said, adding the bids must come in closer to budget to stay within local-match limits (80% federal / 20% local). Councilors discussed options to reduce scope—prioritizing the worst sidewalks first, using local crews for some work, and including alternates in bid documents so the council can select which segments to fund if bids exceed estimates. Staff said a focused workshop in August would present pick-list alternates for council direction.
