Jefferson County students, directors honored for All-State and honor-band performances

Rachel Allen, Charlestown Middle School band director, told the board the county’s middle-school musicians performed at the West Virginia Music Educators Association conference in Charleston in March 2026 and thanked the district for financial support for the trips.
"We are extremely grateful for the financial support of the Allstate band members trip to perform at the West Virginia Music Educators Conference on March 2026," Allen said, and introduced students from several middle schools who qualified for All-State and honor-band recognition. She said the students received instruction from composer William Owens and that the experience connected music students across the state.
Directors also presented the Charlestown Middle School jazz band as an honor band and named student sections and individuals who participated; board members accepted the recognitions and thanked the directors for coordinating the trips and supporting students' professional development.
