Chief Hennessy briefed the council on Resolution 2026‑27, a five‑year refresh of Riverdale’s interlocal cooperation with the county and neighboring cities to fund and staff a shared heavy rescue team. He said the arrangement provides a truck, stipends, and overtime reimbursement and supports training and certifications above basic EMS qualifications.
Hennessy said the program is a major draw for recruits and that Captain Wett is the contract commander representing Riverdale on the team. Council discussed the contract commander role and the agreement’s benefits; councilors then moved and seconded the resolution and approved it unanimously.
