Committee members voted July 21 to install temporary no-parking signs on both sides of College Court from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, after staff described safety hazards for large GFL garbage trucks when vehicles park on both sides of the street.
"So what happened is they have expressed concerns when College Court where they have parking along both sides of it, and I have attached 2 photos showing unsafe conditions," the presenter said, explaining staff had coordinated with GFL (the waste hauler) and with nearby Maddie's Bar and Grill and that arrangements exist to use GFL's parking lot during yard-waste events. Committee members moved and seconded the item and approved it; staff said they will forward the measure to the Common Council for final adoption and for the police chief to enforce citations as needed.
No council-level ordinance language was adopted at the meeting; the committee's vote authorizes staff to pursue formal council action so enforcement mechanisms can be available.
