Committee approves 2026 IT audit plan targeting state agencies and local entities
Summary

Katrin Osterhaus presented the Legislative Post Audit Committee’s proposed 2026 IT audit plan, which the committee approved by voice vote. She told members the plan continues the office’s confidential auto-reporting approach and calls for 6–8 IT audits in 2026, including one county, one city and one school district as required by prior guidance.
Katrin listed the selected state agencies: the Judiciary; Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services; Office of Information Services; Kansas State University; and the Department of Agriculture. She said Shawnee Mission (school district), Leavenworth County and the city of Wichita are the three chosen non-state entities, and that the memo includes backups in case of scheduling conflicts. Senator Thompson moved approval and Representative Williams seconded; the motion carried on a voice vote.
