Cowlitz County approves interlocal with state to supply TB medications, no dollar amount attached

Gina James, Health and Human Services, told the board the county has an interlocal agreement with the Washington State Department of Health that allows the state to provide tuberculosis medication for county residents whose insurance does not cover the drugs. "If we are working with an individual in our county that has tested for tuberculosis and their insurance isn't able to cover the medication, the state will work with us to help get the medication to that individual," James said.
James said the agreement has inventory-tracking requirements but carries "no dollar figure attached" and is intended to be an as-needed arrangement. Commissioners did not request additional fiscal detail at the meeting and voted to approve the interlocal agreement.
